Christmas Day!!!

The big day finally came and now it is gone. Although Christmas is always something to look forward to it feels good to have it over. On Christmas morning we did the usual wake up early and open really nice gifts that our parents got for us. Then we had a good breakfast. We had a good time but it was time to go since we had to be back in St George for work. We had a 9 hour drive ahead of us. So we packed up and headed home. This is were it got interesting. As most of you know we don't have the best of luck. We just past Filmore and were listening to Dan Brown's "Angels and Demons" when we realized that we needed to stop to get gas or we would not make it to Beaver. So we pulled off of the exit and filled the tank. As Bryan was getting in the car he noticed that the back driver side tire was low. We drove over to the air to fill it up. We pulled up behind a van who was also filling his tires. Apparently he didn't notice anyone behind him and backed right into our car. When he realized what he had done he jump out and yelled at us to turn our lights on...but they were on the entire time. He felt stupid and drove off. Luckily our car only had some small scratches. Well we pulled up to the air and we filled the tire only to hear a loud hissing sound. The tire had a pretty bad leak. So here are the pictures of us changing the tire at the Chevron in Cove Fort. It was below 8 degrees and the wind was blowing. Its just our luck to have a flat tire and get backed into at the same time as well as have it be freezing cold. Just to recap I posted the pictures of our lucky day before we left on this trip. We left for Twin Falls on Thursday night and it started to blizzard between Beaver and Cedar City. It was so bad we couldn't even see the cars in front of us. We pulled of to get a Hotel but heard that the storm was supposed to last into the next day so we turned around and canceled our trip. It took us over seven hours to get back to St. George. Furthermore the night before, I already posted it but as another example of our luck I thought I would repost it, someone turkeyed my car. It didn't get egged it got Turkeyed!!! Well anyway...we are greatful that we made it home safely and that although trying nothing terrible happened. Thanks to everyone who made this a good Christmas. We are leaving on a cruise to the Carribean this week. We are so excited.

Christmas Eve!!

Christmas Eve was spent at Russ and Diane's with the whole family. We watched TV and of course played more guitar hero, put together gingerbread houses and ate. It was fun just to hang out and do stuff together. Here are some pictures of the gingerbread contest.

Christmas Eve Day!!

On sunday we went to Boise to visit the Grandparents. It was good to see them since we haven't seen them since the wedding. We ate at Cheesecake Factory while there and the only reason we are letting you know this is because if you haven't had the limoncello torte you have to try it next time you go...it is better then any of their cheesecakes. Anyway on Monday we spent the morning at my moms house in Burley. She moved into a new place and it is nice. We were opened presents and played Guitar Hero. We think we are addicted now.

Sledding at Magic Mountain

On Saturday we took Jordan and Allyson up to the South Hills to go tubing. We had a great time. We were able to rent tubes from the Magic Mountain ski lodge. I was suprised that place was still open and running. I have only skied there once or twice about 15 years ago and it wasn't good. Enjoy.

Turkey anyone???

I don't know why I am posting this but I thought it was so strange. When I woke up this morning there was a turkey on the road by my car. Last night I heard a big thud but did not really think anything of it. Apparently someone decided to "turkey" my car. As anyone heard of this sort of thing before? I guess I shouldn't be suprised since a few months ago my car got egged in the middle of the day while I was at work. Someone doesn't like me very much...lol.. Here is a pic of the turkey and what it did to my car. Luckily the gas lid still closes and there are no dents.

Happy Birthday Suzie!!! This last weekend we went to California Pizza Kitchen for Suzie's birthday. All of the family was there and it was fun. Here are some pictures of the wonderful event. Enjoy!!!

Laura and I found the battery charger to my camera, so now we have a camera again and can update our blog more often. Sorry it has been such a mess. We are planning on going to Twin Falls for Christmas and so if we do not see or talk to you we hope that you have a good Christmas holiday. Merry Christmas!!!

St. George Half Marathon

Sorry it has taken so long to update our blog but we really haven't had any reason to take pictures until today. Laura ran the St. George Half Marathon and had a really good time at 1:51. She was the 15th woman to come in at her age group. Here are some pictures of the race.

ST. GEORGE MARATHON--OCTOBER 6, 2007

26.2 Miles!!! I can't believe I actually did it. I signed up for the St. George Marathon in April and figured that it would be good excercise to train for a marathon. I have trained for marathons in the past but have never actually run a full marathon. I have done several half marathons before but not a full. Needless to say once the end of August came around and I started getting busy with house stuff, work and nervous about Laura taking her dental hygiene exam, I quit training. I decided that I would start the race but then I would catch the looser bus when I couldn't run anymore. Then I decided not to even run the race about a week before but that since I paid for the race that I would pick up my shirt and go to the expo. Well going to the expo got me pumped up and so did Laura's cousin, Tiffany, who was running the race too. She convinced me to sign up under a pace setter and since I haven't been training I figured it might take me five hours at least to realistically finish without killing myself. However she has signed up under the 4 hr 15 min pace setter and I couldn't let a girl out run me. So I signed up under the 4:15 with the option of catching the drop out bus when I couldn't run anymore. I knew that 4:15 would be a challenge since I hadn't trained. ( Just to inform you 4:15 is not that fast for a competitive marathoner. Had I trained right I should finish in 3 hrs 10 min. ) Well the die hard marathoner that Tiffany is, decided that we would be the first on the bus that left at 4:30 am because they were giving away free prizes to the early birds. So we got up at 3 am to get ready and went down to catch the bus. There were tons of people already there and we didn't get any prize. So we road the bus to the starting line where they had hot chocolate and bon fires set up and waited for 2 hrs. (I will never wake up that early again to get a prize, I could have slept for 2 more hours). I was already exhausted. The race started at 6:45. We found our pace setter and started running. I was so cold for the first 9 miles and then the sun came up over the mountain and it got hot really fast. The St George marathon is mostly a downhill race which is nice but when there is an uphill its difficult. So Tiffiany and I were running side by side with the pace setter until after we had hit a few of the big hills and Tiffany seemed to be slowing down. At mile 14 I knew that if I didn't pick it up that I would not finish so I left Tiffany behind and caught up to the pace setter. By mile 18 my left leg was numb. I could not feel it hit the ground anymore and I had to concentrate on lifting it up off the ground to keep going. I thought I was done for. When we came up on the 19th mile I stopped to get a drink and realized that if quit walking I wouldn't finish the race beause I hurt bad so I kept jogging (obviously not the smartest move on my part). In order to overcome the pain I started talking to other racers and before I knew it I was at mile 23 where Laura was waiting on the side lines cheering me on. I felt inspired and I knew at that point I was going to finish the race however I didn't know if I was going to have to walk it. I began talking to the pace setter to keep my mind off of my leg...I was the only one left who had stuck with her throughout the entire race so I had her full attention, she was a beast...and at mile 25 I got a second wind and sprinted for the finish line. I ended up finishing in 4 hrs 13 min and 47 sec just right before my goal of 4 hrs 15 mins.
